Located along US-63 near Grand View is this unique lattice deck truss, crossing Twentymile Creek.
Officially known as a quadrangular intersection Lattice Deck Truss, this span was built in 1890 to replace a previous trestle.
Currently, consists of the single deck truss span, including riveted connections. This type of truss is typical of the late 1880s and early 1890s, although relatively few remain.
In addition to the main truss span, the bridge also features trestle approaches on either end The entire bridge rests on wood and stone substructures.
While the Chicago & North Western has been non-existent since 1995, they are still the reported owner of the tract of land this bridge sits on.
Overall, the bridge remains in very good condition. While the bridge is in sound condition, a ATV/snowmobile trail utilizes culverts instead of the bridge.
The author has ranked this bridge as being regionally significant, due to the old age of the bridge and rarity of the lattice design.
